Students pursue structured progressive system to gain understanding and technical facility to play the Piano. The course carefully covers all aspects of playing the piano including Scales & Arpeggios, Sight Reading, Ear Training, etc. The genres of music include European Classical, Jazz, Rock and even Bollywood music.
Students gain a command over various aspects of playing the acoustic and electric guitars. The music is mostly Blues, Rock and Jazz. Regular concerts hosted by the Academy provide crucial performance platform that is at the heart of playing this very popular instrument.
Rhythm section builds the foundation for any band to build upon. Students learning drums master their rudiments and gain technical command over different styles of music such as Rock, Pop, Jazz, Reggae, etc. Drummers collaborate with other musicians regularly to form ensembles at the Academy.
Students pursuing vocals study various styles of western music including Classical, Rock, Pop, Jazz and even selections from Broadway Musicals. The students regularly perform with classical ensembles, choirs and rock bands at concerts hosted by the Academy.
Although similar to the piano, keyboards involve learning many other techniques that are unique to the performance on Keyboards such as pitch bend, glissandos, comping, etc. The genre of music taught is mostly Rock, Pop and Jazz with improvisation and use of various sound engines being at the heart of it.
About Ritesh Khokhar
Ritesh is one of the finest musician and music educator to hail from the capital city of New Delhi. He performed extensively with many Rock and Jazz bands in the 90s including Nirvana, Bluefunk and Bandish. He studied Piano and Theory of Music at Delhi School of Music where he was appointed as the first faculty for Electronic Keyboards in 2001. His passion for Jazz earned him a scholarship from Berklee College of Music in 2000. With 2 decades of performance and 15 years of teaching behind him, Ritesh claims to have learnt as much from his students as from his teachers!
As a pianist he has performed as an accompanist with some of the leading sopranos and tenors in the city. He gave a solo recital at the German Embassy in New Delhi and also performed with the Indian National Youth Orchestra under the baton of Mr. Vijay Upadhyaya in 2011. He had the honour to perform with the Ao Church Choir for the President of India in 2013 at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
His 5 years of research into the Hungarian music education system enabled him to author the first series of music textbooks for public schools in India titled “Bridge to Music” in 2010. Apart from heading the Bridge Music Academy, Ritesh currently represents ROLAND as their Brand Ambassador and works as an Academic Consultant for Music with Trinity College London.
About Sochipem Kashak
Sochipem Kashak is one of the leading musicians from the north-east, India. He is a gifted singer, songwriter, guitarist and a music teacher. His passion for music was traced back to his early age when he was aged 5, since then, he has never stopped singing and playing instruments. He did his grade 8 from Trinity College London, top the exam from all India. He is the founder member of a Christian band “THE EPISTLES”.
For his contributions to music, he has done two 2 years of training on teaching music and composition organized by Carnegie Hall, New York 2008 – 2009, also attended training program at Carnegie Hall, New York in 2009 for the same. He has been teaching western music (vocal and instruments) in Delhi Public School – Dwarka since 2007 and joined Bridge Music Academy as faculty member in 2010. He was known for his love and care for the children.
About Mitika KanwarMitika Kanwar, an Indian Classical Vocalist from Indore and Patiala Gharana took training from her father, Kanwar Iqbal. She has won All India Classical Vocal and Semi Classical Vocal Recital consecutively for 5 years. Her active interest in different styles of music attracted her towards Western Music. For last 5 years she has been actively singing Jazz, Pop and contemporary styles of music and has collaborated with various artists from Chandigarh and New Delhi. Her interest lies in studying vocal modulations, ornaments, experimenting with different styles, and teaching and seeing her students actively grow as a musician.
About Shubhangi Tewari
Shubhangi is a performer and free lance vocal coach, education professional and session artist.
She holds a Post-graduate degree in Political Science from DU, a Diploma in Higher Education in Popular Vocal Music Performance from Tech music Schools, London College of Music, University of West London, Year 5 Indian Classical vocal music diploma from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad and Grade 5 Piano certification from ABRSM, London. She has taught vocal music at various schools of music in Delhi including Rhythmicity, Bluebells International School and Gargi College to name a few.
She is a consultant master trainer with the British Council in the World Voice Project and has trained over 1500 school teachers’ through workshops held in the states of Sikkim, Meghalaya, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Bihar. Through her work in this project, she has reached out to over 1,50,000 children directly and through their teachers’ that she has trained to integrate song and musical activity into their teaching practice.
Past session work includes vocals on the song “Catch Me If You Can” in the Bollywood film “The Expose” (released May 16, 2014), jingles for McDonalds, Tacfab, Nun, Amity, Bonito’s to name a few and vocals on albums for various artists. She is the vocalist and co-composer for the Electronic music duo “Stereo Buddha” and the bassist for sufi rock band “Dilligate”.
She has performed extensively in London, Russia, Hong Kong and various venues in India. She has been associated with acts like “Enochian” (progressive metal band from Delhi), “Karma”, “Sukoon”, Artists Unlimited, Delhi Chamber Choir, multiple award winning Western Music Society of Lady Shri Ram College and Tech Music School choir, and many more over her professional career.
About Rudraksh Bhateja
Rudraksh hails from Meerut but his passion for guitar has pulled him permanently to Delhi. He started playing guitar at very early age not knowing how serious his relationship with guitar would become! Rudraksh loves to compose heavy riffs and melodious solos for his band ‘Jatasyaa’. His influences include John Petrucci, Steve Vai,Guthrie Govan and many more.
He has spend past couple of years learning from some of the best guitar teachers in the industry. He aspires to be one of the best performers in times to come and keeps his ears open to all kinds of music and mind open to all learning opportunities. having completed his Grade 6 from Rockschool, he is now pursuing Grade 8 in Rock & Pop Guitar from Trinity College London.
Rudraksh is one of the youngest and most passionate guitar teachers at the Academy. Through his work with Bridge he wishes to improve the standards of music teaching and performance in the country, which is well in line with the vision of Bridge Music Academy. His music allows him all the things he loves, i.e. travel, teaching and performance.
